Found Zines

Art inspires art. I find myself in surround-sound beauty, falling into a color wheel of images and words as I navigate life. Sometimes, I long to compose a small tribute “after” another poet, artist, musician. Often, I find myself too shy to share what I’ve created.

Zines offer me that playful canvas, a space to choreograph a small wonder inspired and in tribute to another.

As always, if you’d like one of my zines, send a SASE to: PO Box 373, Star, ID 83669 and indicate which zine (or zines) you’d like me to send along.

This Zine, inspired from Octavio Quintanilla’s beautiful art, entitled “los dias oscuros 350.” The piece is part of a special edition portfolio-book, curated specifically for me.

You can purchase his original Frontextos on his website.

Content for this zine, I Shall be Useful, can be found in Virginia Woolf‘s book, The Waves.

This book.

Reading The Waves is like trying to absorb a sunset, a tornado.

The format is beyond inspiring.

This is an excerpt zine from my own book, Safe Handling. Safe Handling is a collection-length poem that weaves the heartbreak and challenges of navigating the medical system when my son, Zach, and I traveled out-of-state for one (of his 36) procedures. This one, heart surgery.

Yes. You can create art from your own art.

Yes. Your art can be in conversation with itself, with other artists, with others.
